Saving Ding

Anyway you look at it "Ding" is lucky to be alive.

His story is very much one of man being a dog's best friend.

Ding's story begins in the Burwood Council pound at Enfield Vet Hospital in Sydney. To their great credit, this Council and the devoted vet staff at Enfield have a "no kill" policy with stray animals - a home must be found. After two months Susan Rosenfeld, who had lost her previous pet and swore never again, saw an advertisement for Ding and knew it was meant to be. But there was a hitch - settlement on a new house had been delayed and she could not take delivery of the new love in her life.

So, three times a week, Sue went to Enfield Vet Hospital and walked Ding. Finally, Ding went to his new home where he was greatly loved. Before he left, however, Ding was microchipped and identified with a petsafe collar tag and all this information was logged with petsafe. This would prove handy.

New Year's fireworks sent Ding into a frenzy and he escaped. Sue was totally devastated that her much loved pet was missing. As she frantically searched another "good Samaritan" called Debbie found Ding and took him. Seeing the tag she called 1800 989 989 and we had the owner. Because she was out searching we could only leave a message on Sue's phone but when she got home Sue received the answer to her prayers - Ding was safe and well.

It was fantastic to hear happy she was. Looking back Ding would not be with us but for the policy of Burwood Council, the care and compassion of Enfield Vet Hospital, the love and kindness of Sue, the good works of Debbie and the petsafe identification and recovery system.

That's why we say this is a case of man being a dog's best friend.
